About the Event
Come and join us for an intimate screening of the documentary Township Yogi.Â
Filmed in South African townships riddled with crime and unemployment, where many of the population are suffering from HIV and AIDS. The film focusses on six people who are selected to participate in yoga teacher training courses, and follows them, as they use yoga to help them transform their lives. The documentary also explores the ripple effect this has in some of the poverty-stricken, HIV, Whoonga and crime-ridden communities in which they live.
Arrive at 6:00pm for a some pre-film nibbles and settle in with cushions or on the couch for the film at 6:45pm. The night will conclude with some sweets and tea. Money raised from this event will go directly to the Township Yogi Project - a project to set up grassroots yoga clinics and classes in townships in South Africa, and to train unemployed people from the townships to become qualified yoga teachers.
