Shiatsu Massage Therapy

Release tension from your muscles, rebalance your energy and sink into a deep, relaxed state.

Shi-atsu literally translates as finger-pressure but a shiatsu treatment can include the use of fingers, thumbs, elbows, knees and feet. A shiatsu therapist applies pressure along meridian lines on the body to help to release muscles and promote internal healing. Shiatsu can also include various stretches and manipulations to release tension and promote energy flow.

Shiatsu helps tone down an overactive sympathetic nervous system, whilst turning on the parasympathetic nervous system to improve circulation, relieve stiff muscles, and alleviate stress.

Shiatsu is done through clothing and the amount of pressure applied is always to a comfortable level, which is different for every person. A treatment takes place on comfortable mats on the floor and the practitioner performs the treatment from various sitting, kneeling and standing positions.

Effects from a shiatsu treatment include a sense of deep calm and relaxation, softer muscles, improved sleep, and an overall feeling of wellbeing.

After my shiatsu with Leah, I feel a noticeable release of tension in my body. Leah applies appropriate pressure to relieve muscle knots while checking in to make sure I am not feeling discomfort. I leave the massage feeling relaxed, balanced, calm and refreshed.
