Connecting to Centre
A Core Yoga Workshop
Sunday 4 February, 2024 | 10:30AM - 12:30PM
Barossa Valley, South Australia
Access Your Deeper Core for Profound Health and Wellbeing
Do you suffer from bloating or other digestive issues?
Do you have lower back pain?
Are you dealing with menstrual pain or have weak pelvic floor muscles?

Interestingly, all of these seemingly unrelated issues can stem from a lack of core strength and correct belly pressure. Attaining an understanding of how the core works and how to cultivate good belly pressure is an integral aspect to reliving these issues.
This workshop is for you if you want to:
-
access the secret to physical, mental and emotional stability.
-
get relief from back pain and heal digestive issues.
-
get relief from cramping and pain during your monthly cycle.
-
build a stronger yoga practice, and improve your alignment and balance in more advanced yoga poses.
-
improve your core strength and maintain it for the duration of your life.
As an accredited Senior Yoga teacher, I will be sharing what I have learned from over 25 years of yoga practice and 15 years of teaching experience.
In this Connecting to Centre Core Yoga Workshop, you will learn:
-
the most effective exercises to warm up and activate the core - the energy centre of your body.
-
therapeutic core yoga exercises to support the organs of the digestive system and how they help to improve digestive function.
-
key therapeutic core yoga exercises to improve posture and reduce back pain.
-
specific core yoga exercises to help with menstrual issues and strengthen the pelvic floor.
-
how to use core exercises as a bridge to achieving more advanced yoga asanas.
-
two breathing techniques to develop a deeper connection with your core.
About Leah
My name is Leah Cooper and I am an accredited Senior Level 3 Yoga Teacher (Yoga Australia). Over the past 15 years I have had the privilege of teaching hundreds of people how to connect with their core through a therapeutic yoga practice based on the eastern meridian system of healing.
I am passionate about health and wellbeing and believe it is critical that each of us take responsibility for our bodies and minds so that we can live our best life. Maintaining a connection to my core through a dynamic and therapeutic yoga practice is one of the key tools that has helped me on this path. My mission is to share these tools with others so that we can have a positive impact on our health and, ultimately, improve the health of our community.
What others are saying about Core Yoga with Leah

I love the type of yoga that Leah teaches. It has, for me, a perfect balance of strength and stretching with the added insight into how the moves impact your internal systems. Having suffered from neck and shoulder issues in the past I have found that after working with Leah these have now resolved. My belly strength has increased dramatically and I feel I am developing a really strong core which I believe is so important as we get older.
~ Karen
I have been doing yoga once a week with Leah for quite a few years now and find her classes very beneficial, especially for core strength. As I am an older woman, I find I cannot stretch and move as freely as the younger participants, but I do the movements at my own pace. Leah is very encouraging and 'nudges' me on. I have certainly noticed my core is stronger and I have less back discomfort, better bladder control, and am more mobile. I generally feel better, and know that if I did not do yoga, especially the core work, I would not be as mobile and agile as I am now. Leah is a calm, encouraging teacher and I really enjoy my weekly yoga sessions with her.
~ Stefani
As I am getting older, I have realised how much a strong core helps my balance. Leah's yoga classes have helped me to develop the strong core I need for good balance and confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m relatively new to yoga, is this workshop suitable for me?
Absolutely! The core yoga exercises you will learn in this workshop are an excellent foundation for continuing to build your yoga practice. I started my practice over 25 years ago learning these exercises and they continue to be of benefit to my overall health and wellbeing.
I’m already an experienced yoga student/teacher, what will I get from attending this workshop?
Great question! As an experienced yogi, you already have a strong foundation and understand the value of the core in an advanced yoga practice. In this workshop you will learn new ways to access the core through specific yoga therapy exercises and discover the profound effect they have in building a deeper connection with your core.
What do I need to bring to the workshop?
Please bring the following items to the workshop:
-
Yourself
-
A smile
-
An open mind
-
A yoga mat
-
A journal/notebook and pencil/pen if you wish to take notes during the workshop.

Is there parking?
Parking is available on the street outside the studio. True North Yoga is located on the corner of Tyne & Newcastle Street, Angaston, in the old Angaston Bowling Club room.
I have injured myself, can I still come to the workshop?
If you have back, neck, shoulder or hip pain, you can still attend the workshop. Adjustments to some exercises can be made to accommodate these types of injuries. If you have booked a spot and are worried about an injury you have acquired after booking in, please get in touch on 0412 704 330 and let me know.
Should I eat before coming to the workshop?
As we are working strongly on the core, I do not recommend eating a large meal right before the class. It is preferable to have at least 1 and up to 2 hours break between eating and the start of the workshop.

Can I drink during the workshop?
Please ensure you are hydrated before the workshop, but don’t drink too much so that you become bloated. It is recommended that you avoid drinking during the workshop. You will be able to hydrate afterwards.
